Chapter: 288
But before Trudy could finish her explanation, her assistant frantically ushered over the wardrobe supervisor and whispered into Trudy's ear.
“Trudy, Emery Blakely’s agent just got in touch, inquiring about the charity show today. Looks like Emery just so happens to be in Linmarsh at this moment."
The implications were clear to Trudy before her assistant could even complete her sentence.
This was a major event. Even for a charity function, swapping out the lead performer wasn't a trivial task.
Today's headliners were Patty and Claudia, with Patty gracing the stage first and Claudia wrapping up the show.
Bennett's request to remove Patty put Trudy in a tough spot. Explaining the sudden change to Patty's fanbase would be a struggle. Moreover, Patty had willingly offered to perform for the charity.
Finding a Last-minute substitute for Patty also seemed impossible.
Yet Emery's agent contacted them at this critical moment.
Emery, who debuted five years prior to Patty, had achieved far more recognition. Initially, Trudy had invited Emery to perform, but was politely declined. Now, if Emery could replace Patty, it would be fantastic.
However, this decision meant upsetting Patty.
But if they didn't upset Patty now, they would anger Bennett.
Trudy was not stupid. She knew that between Patty and Bennett, her choice was clear.
Given the current circumstances, she made a quick decision after a moment's thought. "Mr. Dreskin, your point is valid. For such a charity event, we should naturally invite guests with a generous spirit. Given that Patty has mistreated Mrs. Dreskin without cause, she is indeed unfit to be our charity show's performer.”
She paused momentarily before continuing, “Mrs. Dreskin will initiate the charity event. For the closing act, we will reach out to Emery Blakely for her participation. What's your take on this?"
Bennett remained silent. He glanced at Claudia, who had been quiet throughout, and asked, “Is that acceptable for you?"
This sudden turn of events had Claudia slightly befuddled. Hearing Bennett's question, she gave a dazed nod. "Yes."
What an ingenious solution!
She hadn't anticipated that Bennett would actually request Trudy to dismiss Patty from the event. As Bennett took her hand and led her into the hall, it still felt like a surreal dream.
Bennett was merely a spectator. After escorting Claudia backstage, he joined Egan in the audience.
Trudy had already arranged a separate dressing room for Claudia and tasked her assistant to oversee the following proceedings.
Claudia had applied some basic make-up before arrival. With only twenty minutes to the show's commencement, the make-up artist completed her look five minutes prior.
Just as Claudia‘s make-up was done, Patty's enraged voice could be heard from outside. "Have you Lost your mind? I'm scheduled to open the show. Now you're telling me I'm not needed for today's performance?"
Recognizing the voice, Claudia immediately understood what was happening.
She glanced at Joann, who had been suppressing her excitement. Amidst the bustle, Joann whispered into Claudia's ear, "Mr. Dreskin is remarkable."
