Chapter: 30
Delilah choked on her words amidst sobs.
Fearful of her emotional stability, Anthony tried to reassure her.
Unintentionally, he revealed tomorrow's dinner with the Marshalls.
Caught in his own web of words, Anthony said, "Well, it's Late now. You should go to bed. I'm going to bed too."
Delilah softly bid him a goodnight and ended the call.
With the echo of the disconnecting line still in his ears, Anthony fetched a cigarette and sparked it to life.
It was difficult for him to accept the idea that Claudia could move on so effortlessly. Was she really that heartless?
While he tossed and turned, haunted by insomnia, Claudia rested peacefully, deep in slumber.
When morning dawned and Claudia was indulging in her breakfast, she found Aurora's grumbles waiting for her.
“Anthony said he didn't buy the ring for Delilah. Can you believe that?
He couldn't be taking Delilah ring shopping for you, could he? What nonsense!
Delilah has really made a fool of herself this time. She's even got paid followers to declare her innocence. Shameless!"
Aurora had never been this candid in front of Claudia before. But yesterday, Claudia had agreed with Aurora's complaints, making her realize that Claudia was no longer the vulnerable woman she once knew!
Claudia couldn't suppress her laughter at Aurora's words.
Spotting this, Jace, intrigued, asked, “What's so funny?"
“Ah, just chatting with Aurora. She's complaining about..."
Claudia stopped midway.
“About what?"
Nervously handing over her phone to Jace, Claudia cautiously studied his reactions. "Dad, don't worry about the online haters. I wasn't the main target of the trolling yesterday."
Despite being detached from the online social media, Jace was aware of his daughter's predicament due to the notorious nature of the news.
“I'm aware, sweetheart. I'm incredibly proud of you."
Accepting her phone back, Claudia reassured, blushing slightly, “Dad, rest assured, I won't let anyone belittle me anymore!"
