The very moment Jackson entered the office, an intense chill enveloped him. It was many degrees colder in here than in the rest of the building. Seeing that his boss had a deadpan, he straightened his back and reported seriously, "Mr. Dreskin, I have just been informed that Sogonia Group will be holding a party this Friday night. Will you be attending?"

Bennett took one look at the invitation on the table and replied, "No."

“Okay, sir!"

Jackson nodded and turned around to leave.

He had just touched the doorknob when Bennett called out to him, "Wait a minute!"

Without hesitation, Jackson spun around and asked, "Is there anything else, Mr. Dreskin?"

"Do I need to bring a date to this party?”

Jackson was a little confused, but he still answered, "Yes, but it's not compulsory."

A man of Bennett's caliber was respected by many people in the business world. He could do no wrong in anyone's eyes. Even if he showed up at a black-tie event in a pair of joggers and a hat to match, no one would say a thing. This went without saying that he didn't need a date.

Regardless, Bennett picked up the invitation and held it out to his assistant.

“Send this to my villa. Inform my wife that she needs to accompany me to the party.”

Jackson shook his head as though to clear his ears. What did his boss just say? “What? Got a problem with my order?”

“Absolutely not, Mr. Dreskin. I‘ll send the invite to Mrs. Dreskin right away."

“That's more like it."

Bennett nodded with satisfaction.

Jackson immediately took the invitation and ordered someone to deliver it to Claudia.

Jackson had been working for Bennett for years, but this was the first time he noticed that his boss was acting a bit weird.

He used to think that he knew all there was to know about Bennett. However, he recently realized that there was more to his boss than met the eye.

Bennett was doing contradictory things. Just Last weekend, Jackson had been asked to draft a marriage agreement. And now, Bennett changed his mind and decided to take Claudia to the party even though it wasn't compulsory.

Jackson couldn't wrap his head around why his boss did both things. Bennett never took any woman as his date to social functions, so his recent decision was even extra shocking.

Thinking hard with the invitation card in hand, something interesting occurred to Jackson.

As it turned out, Sogonia Group which was the host of the party had affiliations with Azuba Group. This meant that members of the Nixon family would be invited to the party too.

Bennett wasn't one to attend parties unless going would be extremely beneficial. Since he decided to attend with Claudia this time, it must be because Anthony would also be there.

Everything made sense now.
