Chapter: 329
Bennett must have plans to get on Anthony's nerves through PDA. Realizing this, Jackson immediately ordered someone to deliver the invitation to Claudia. He then began the process of getting a dress for her.
Friday was just around the corner. A few days wasn‘t going to be enough to have a dress tailor-made for Claudia. With Little time on his hands, Jackson could only put in effort to pick out a dress that would make his boss' wife stand out at the party in a few days.
When Claudia got the invitation, she suddenly remembered the agreement she had signed not too long ago.
This invitation seemed to mark the beginning of her fulfilling her obligations as Bennett's contract wife. Before she could come to terms with that fact, the delivery person said, "Mrs. Dreskin, you don't need to worry about your dress for the party. Jackson already has that covered. ALL you have to do on that day is spare two hours to get your hair and makeup done.”
“Well... Okay."
She reasoned that Bennett was so considerate. Just moments ago, she had begun thinking of the amount of stress she would have to go through. Little did she know that the most stressful preparation of them all was already being sorted out.
After the delivery person left, Claudia wasted not a minute before texting Aurora on WhatsApp.
"The thought of having to go shopping for a dress and shoes to match almost made me tear my hair out. You needed to see how relieved I was when I learned that it was already being taken care of. Phew!"
Aurora responded, "Are you telling me this because you are relieved or you just want to show off that your husband is so sweet?"
Goodness! Was she showing off?
Claudia held her chest and wondered, guilt arousing inside her.
By way of answer, she sent an oops emoji that was rather ambiguous.
In the evening, Bennett returned home and mentioned the upcoming party.
Claudia made sure to point out that his assistant was so considerate.
Upon hearing that, Bennett's hand which was working to unbutton the collar of his shirt, froze for a moment. He turned his head to Look at Claudia, who was busy playing a game on the sofa. "Is that so?"
Claudia kept her eyes on her phone screen as she blurted out, "Yes, Jackson has been really helpful. I haven't had to stress myself with the preparations. Although I feel relieved, I kinda feel guilty.”
The agreement had already been signed. As a result, there was Little she could do now.
“And why is that?"
Bennett loosened his collar and sat down next to her.
She glanced at him only for a second. When she saw that he just sat down, she scuttled aside and answered, "Well, it's just that I feel you are doing almost all the work. I don't feel very useful to you.”
“Watch out! Someone is in the bush on the left.”
The second Bennett's low voice rang out, an enemy in the game jumped out from the bush on the left.
Claudia had retreated as soon as she got Bennett's warning. As a result, she narrowly escaped being killed yet again.
“Whoa! That was close. If not for you, I'd have lost this level again. Thank you!"
