The night's events unfolded like an extraordinary dream for Claudia. She wasn't alone in her bewilderment, though.
Jolie was equally perplexed. Zaria was expected to marry Bennett in the future. She had an excellent opportunity tonight to act against Claudia but instead, she advocated for Claudia.
Despite pondering for over half an hour, Jolie remained unable to decipher Zaria's thoughts.
When she discovered that Zaria had changed into a new evening dress, she left the affluent Ladies behind to seek her out.
Jolie wasn't the only one who couldn't comprehend the situation. Even Harlee Loftus, who shared a good bond with Zaria, was puzzled.
“Why did you defend Claudia earlier?"
It had been an ideal opportunity. Had Zaria remained silent, Claudia would've been defenseless.
Regardless of whether Claudia was at fault or not, the spectators were inclined to suspect her first.
Moreover, everyone in Linmarsh was well aware that the Dreskin family refused to recognize Claudia as Bennett's wife.
It was Zaria that they truly adored.
Zaria didn't need to give Claudia a second thought!
Even if Zaria had deliberately jumped into the swimming pool to implicate Claudia, the Dreskin family was capable of distorting the truth.
Nonetheless, Zaria helped clarify Claudia's position. This reversal of events was a bitter pill for Harlee to swallow.
Summer nights weren't chilly, but after almost getting drown in the pool, Zaria still felt discomfort despite taking a shower.
She sniffed, her voice muffled. "I was merely stating facts."
“But...”
Before Harlee could utter more words, Jolie arrived, her brows knitted and an expression of puzzlement on her face. "Are you alright, Zaria?"
Recognizing Jolie's presence, Harlee stopped and greeted her.
After acknowledging Harlee with a nod, Jolie shifted her focus back to Zaria, echoing Harlee's question, "Zaria, why did you support Claudia earlier?"
Zaria explained, “Because my fall into the swimming pool was accidental."
Jolie knitted her brow.
“Even if it was an accident, you didn't need to..."
Her sentence was cut short due to the crowded gathering.
