The news that the Santiago family and Dreskin family would become in-laws had spread Like wildfire five years ago.

When Zaria returned to the country last year, both families met for dinner. Everyone thought that the wedding was just around the corner.

But when Bennett suddenly got married to Claudia, the rumor of his wedding to Zaria died a natural death.

It wasn't until last night that it was resurrected after Jolie brought Zaria along to the Sogonia Group's party. Her action said a thousand words.

Although Claudia and Bennett were legally married, they never had a wedding ceremony. Jolie always made it known in the elite circle that Benico disapproved of his son's choice of a wife.

There began to be speculations that Bennett and Claudia would get divorced sooner or later. Since Benico approved of Zaria, they felt it was only a matter of time before she was made the daughter-in-law.

Things had been going on pretty well until the party. Benico had plans to force Bennett into getting a divorce and engaging Zaria officially.

Everyone thought Zaria was up with the arrangement. But that was until she mysteriously changed into someone else overnight. Making a public gratitude post wasn't the only thing she did. She went ahead to tell her father to call Benico and cancel the marriage pact they made.

Benico was oblivious to what was happening online. So when he received Emmitt Santiago's call, he assumed that it was to discuss the engagement.

Nothing prepared him for the huge shocker he received moments after picking up. Emmitt said, "Since Bennett is in love with another woman, he has every right to choose who to be with. We shouldn't force our choice on our kids. It was bad enough that we didn't take their opinions into consideration before now. Anyway, I think we should call off the engagement between Bennett and Zaria now." Benico’s jaw dropped to the floor.

After a moment of confusion, he tried every means to persuade Emmitt, but it all fell on deaf ears. In the end, he has no choice but to agree.

Benico's face turned ashen the second he got off the phone.

Jolie, who and been seated close all along, asked cautiously, "What's wrong? What did the Santiagos say?"

“What did they say? What else could they say? Of course, they want to call off the engagement!”

Jolie was shocked.

“Why all of a sudden? Is it because of what Zaria did?"

When Jolie saw the big question mark on her husband's face, she hesitated for a moment before handing over her phone. "I don't know what's wrong with Zaria. Last night, she insisted that Claudia saved her Life even though an eyewitness said otherwise. As if that was not enough, she publicly thanked Claudia today."

Jolie rubbed her temples and added, “Everyone is talking about it online. They are already saying that she can't possibly be the one to sabotage Claudia's marriage. But I call that bullshit!"

Something popped into Jolie's head. She asked suspiciously, “Seeing as the Santiagos wasted no time to call off the engagement, could it be that they have wanted out for a long time?"

Benico took a look at her and said, "If they wanted out, they would have just told me. They didn't have to go through so much trouble!” Jolie grew more confused.
