Chapter: 417
Such defiance was unheard of in Benico's presence. Everyone was respectful to him.

His anger boiled over, and he struck the floor hard with his cane.

“Excellent! I'll see whether you're more stubborn or if the Marshall family's company is tougher!"

Upon hearing this, Claudia's smile vanished.

“Are you suggesting that you'll target my family's business if I don't comply?”

“You're not as naive as you look!"

“Won't Bennett be furious if he discovers what you've been up to?"

Claudia questioned seriously. Benico's face, however, turned even grimmer at her words.

"Is this a threat?"

For the first time, Benico found himself on the receiving end of what felt like a threat!

Claudia, taken aback and maintaining her innocence, responded, “Why would you think I'm threatening you? Trust is the cornerstone of a relationship between couples, isn't it? Bennett will surely find out that you visited me today. If he does, he'll surely ask what we talked about. Naturally, I'll tell him the truth."

Pausing for a moment, Claudia added, “Or perhaps, honesty isn't part of your life and you never share the truth with your wife?"

These words infuriated Benico. Even his assistant seemed on the verge of scolding Claudia. Then, unexpectedly, a noise came from the entryway.

Everyone in the living room instinctively turned their eyes towards the door, where Bennett, dressed in a crisp black suit, made his appearance.

Upon seeing Bennett, Claudia immediately stood and approached him, saying, “Your timing is perfect! Your father is accusing me of threatening him!"

She insisted she hadn't threatened anyone.

Benico was left without words.

His assistant was equally at a loss for words.

Bennett noticed that Claudia appeared more excited than upset. A wave of relief washed over him.

Raising his hand, he gently guided her behind him, shielding her from Benico's view as he inquired, "What brings you here?”

Peering at Benico from behind Bennett, Claudia reached out to touch Bennett's arm, stood on her toes, and whispered into his ear, “Fortunately, you're back, or I might have truly given your father a heart attack."

“It's okay. I'll handle it," Bennett reassured her.

From Benico's perspective, the couple's closeness only stoked his anger. "Do you even consider me as your father anymore?"

"Do you even see me as your son?"
