Chapter: 451
Thinking of this, Claudia felt her cheeks flushed.
How embarrassing!
Yet, she increasingly thought of Bennett as honorable. Had she been the one unzipping his trousers, she might have lost control.
Truly a gentleman.
Sadly, he had encountered such a dishonorable woman.
Claudia, pinching her cheek, forcibly reigned in her improper thoughts, quickly grabbing her clothes for a shower.
Descending the stairs after she freshened up, she found that Marcia had already prepared Lunch.
Since it was a workday, Bennett wouldn't be home for Lunch. She exhaled a breath of relief, for she felt too mortified to face him just yet.
After lunch, Claudia didn't risk napping and hastily retreated to the piano room to immerse herself in practice for the rest of the afternoon.
In the CEO's office of Segarine Group.
Jackson could sense that Bennett was unusually cheerful.
Though unaware of the reason, he noticed that his boss was less stern when calling him to submit the required documents.
"Mr. Dreskin, I've uncovered what you instructed me to investigate." Bennett looked up, his pen-holding hand pausing, “Who was responsible?”
“It might be a misunderstanding," replied Jackson, handing over the materials.
“The whole tray of drinks was tainted, but it wasn't meant for Mrs. Dreskin. She consumed it accidentally.”
The punch had been laced by Wilder Cohen and his fellow playboys, who had all come with female companions the previous night.
These women were all inexperienced, and the men feared rejection due to potential discomfort, so they arranged for an aphrodisiac to be placed in the drinks.
The drinks hadn't been intended specifically for Claudia. However, as the waiter was passing by, Claudia reached out and took a glass. The waiter remained silent, fearing that their secret would be uncovered.
Moreover, the aphrodisiac's influence was minor, and its effects would fade within a couple of hours.
Bennett never believed that anyone would dare harm Claudia while he was there, but his cautious nature demanded that he uncover the truth.
Now that the investigation was complete, he could put the matter to rest.
“Destroy these papers," he commanded, handing the documents back to Jackson.
Upon holding them, Jackson sudden understood the reason for Bennett's good spirits that day.
Wilder had inadvertently done something beneficial while attempting something malicious.
