Chapter: 453
Bennett set the glass down, studied her, and inquired, “Feeling better?"

His words caught Claudia off guard. Recalling her actions the previous night, she blushed, stammering, “I'm fine. I'm really sorry. I overstepped again."

Bennett remained silent, his eyes fixed on her.

Flustered, Claudia Lowered her head and looked at her phone, which was flooded with messages from Zaria.

Her shock prompted a rapid clarification. "No, I mean, I Like guys. I can never reciprocate your feelings. It's better to make this clear now so you can move on soon!"

Though unsure of Zaria's affection, Claudia knew unreciprocated love was exhausting.

She'd felt that agony for over a decade. Now that she'd moved on, she didn't want Zaria to suffer the same.

Zaria's response was swift. "Cece, you're mistaken! I admire and appreciate you, but there's no romantic feelings. I'm straight too. Ha-ha, gosh, you're so cute!"

Staring at Zaria's reply, Claudia was at a loss for words.

This miscommunication was mortifying!

She couldn't help but cover her face, feeling a bit awkward.

She wondered how she would face Zaria again.

Bennett's curiosity was piqued. "What's wrong? Feeling ill?"

Claudia peeked at him through her fingers.

“I've done something foolish!"

Bennett's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Care to share?”

"What? You want to revel in my embarrassment?"

“No.”

"But you're Laughing!"

“Then I'll stop!"

Claudia wished the earth would swallow her whole. Her shame was unbearable.

Bennett declared that he would be serious, and just like that, the smile on his face vanished. He turned to Claudia, his gaze so intense that she felt as if they were at a negotiation table.

Under his watchful eye, Claudia was defeated within five seconds. Gracefully, she lifted her hand and placed the phone on the table before him.

As Bennett reached for it, Claudia's hand shot out to snatch the phone back. "You have to promise me you won't Laugh at me once you've read this."
