Chapter: 454
Her words were met with warmth on the back of her hand, causing her to startle. Looking down, she discovered Bennett's hand covering hers. Her ears flushed a bright red, and she instinctively withdrew her hand. Bennett's eyes briefly met hers. "I promise.”
His assurance only made Claudia feel more embarrassed.
Now that the phone was in his hands, she couldn't take it back. She unlocked it with her fingerprint and displayed the chat history to him. "You'll understand once you read it."
In less than ten seconds, Bennett skimmed the chat records between her and Zaria.
He returned the phone to her, his eyes lingering on her face.
“It's merely a misunderstanding. Nothing foolish."
Relieved, Claudia clutched her phone, exhaling deeply. "My friend gave me the wrong advice and led me on! That's why I drew the ridiculous conclusion."
“Okay," Bennett responded, showing no concern for the matter.
Marcia soon appeared, announcing that dinner was ready.
Glancing at Bennett, Claudia announced, "It's time for dinner, Mr. Dreskin."
She was eager to Leave the issue behind.
Later that night, as Claudia recounted the incident to Aurora, her friend broke into Laughter.
"Don't Laugh. You misled me!" Claudia scolded.
“I was merely joking. I never thought you'd take my joke so seriously!” Aurora teased, leaving Claudia speechless.
Claudia was left speechless.
But the misunderstanding was resolved. Although Claudia couldn't fathom why Zaria had suddenly taken such a Liking to her, she knew it was a simple affection between friends, so she felt no mental pressure.
Monday arrived again.
The high-level conference room of Segarine Group was cold. Benico's strong speech was the only heat source.
“Two consecutive projects have failed. Clearly, Bennett is unfit to be the chairman of the Segarine Group."
His words and actions were shocking to everyone present. While other fathers might attempt to elevate their children, Benico seemed determined to tear his son down.
The meeting's purpose was clear to all, But from the moment Benico started speaking until now, he had only discussed Bennett's faults, not a single word about his contribution to the company. His actions of undermining Bennett's position as chairman left all the other directors present stunned.
Ever since Benico retired and Bennett assumed the role of CEO at the Segarine Group, the company's remarkable progress over the past five years was evident to everyone.
The majority of the directors were in disagreement with Benico's desire to impeach Bennett.
Nobody favored a sudden replacement if the current leader was this capable and damn good at making money.
