Chapter: 544
“Wouldn't that suggest I'm afraid of her?"
“It makes sense!"
With a straightened back and a determined stride, Claudia walked in, pretending not to see them.
It wasn't difficult to ignore them.
Annoying people have a way of being perpetually bothersome. Claudia felt that she had already shown them enough respect by not saying anything when she entered.
However, Amya couldn't help herself. "Mrs. Dreskin, what a coincidence."
Claudia was at a loss for words.
Why was Amya so insufferable?
Amya had been humiliated by Aurora before, but it seemed she didn't learn her lesson and was now bold enough to initiate some sarcasm. Aurora, never one to let such things slide, retorted, “Yes, what a coincidence. It was cloudy when we came in just now. I wonder if it will rain later."
Upon hearing that, Amya's face turned, recalling the embarrassment of their last encounter.
Her expression altered, Kristy quickly interjected, “Mrs. Dreskin, long time no see."
Claudia responded with a perfunctory nod, “Long time no see.” What's the point of seeing someone like you? She thought.
Claudia couldn't say it out loud, but Aurora stepped in, asking sharply, "Is there any need to meet you though?”
Kristy's face froze at the question, and Amya immediately chimed in, “Aurora, why are you so irritable? We just said hello. Is it necessary for you to say something so unpleasant?"
"We walked this way as soon as we entered; it's clear we didn't want to say hello to you. Did you not realize that? Since you came to greet us shamelessly, can't I respond accordingly?" Aurora fired back.
"By cursing?"
“Anyway, I didn't curse anyone."
Claudia almost couldn't help laughing. She thought about the saddest thing in her Life to manage to hold back her Laughter.
Aurora's words were sharp as ever, but Amya missed the subtle insult. Thinking Aurora was showing weakness, she was stunned and said, "You just need to be nice to us."
Claudia couldn't help but laugh at that. Amya didn't understand what Claudia found so amusing, but she thought she was being mocked. "Mrs. Dreskin, is there anything interesting?" she asked, irritation clear in her voice.
The smile on Claudia's face disappeared. She pointed at two sets of clothes she Liked and motioned for the saleswoman to bring them over. Then she said, "Nothing. I just remembered a movie I watched Last night. There's a dog that learns to speak like humans, and it did such a good job."
Amya suspected that Claudia was ridiculing her, but she had no proof. Her face turned red with anger, and Kristy pulled her aside, shooting her a comforting look. Then she took out an invitation card from her bag and said, "Mrs. Dreskin, this is the invitation to my engagement party with Anthony. If you're free next Saturday, please come with Mr. Dreskin."
Amya's smug expression returned. "Mr. Dreskin is so busy. I'm afraid he doesn't have time to accompany Mrs. Dreskin!"
Her voice dripped with sarcasm, but Claudia couldn't deny the truth in her words. She was concerned that Bennett might really not be free that day, and she didn't want to be embarrassed.
