Chapter: 570
Claudia shook her head and answered, "No, I'll be fine. I can go by myself. I don't want you running into your vicious stepmother there.”
Aurora snorted with disdain.
“You're right. The last thing I want tonight is to see that evil witch. But keep in touch, okay? Kristy is like a viper who backbites people. I'll be one call away if you need co."
“Okay. Thanks, Aurora. I have to go get ready. I'll Let you know how things go."
“ALL right. Bye.”
After that, Claudia hung up the phone.
Claudia dressed up simply for tonight.
It was Kristy and Anthony's engagement banquet, so the spotlight was rightfully Kristy’s for tonight. As a guest, Claudia didn't want to steal Kristy's thunder.
More importantly, she didn't want the other guests thinking that she intentionally dressed up ostentatiously to attract attention, all because she wasn't over Anthony.
In her book, Anthony was already a finished and closed chapter. She no longer had any feelings for him.
The truth was, if she hadn't been challenged about coming to Kristy and Anthony's engagement party, she wouldn't be here right now.
Claudia showed up to the banquet wearing a pink off-shoulder dress and a pair of silver strappy high-heeled sandals. She was looking sweet and fresh.
When the car stopped, she hesitated for a while and then sent a message to Bennett that read, "Kristy and Anthony are throwing their engagement party tonight. I told them I would attend. I've just arrived at the venue."
After sending the message, Claudia felt ill at ease, so she sent Bennett another message that read, "I'm not deliberately telling you about this at the last minute. I just forgot."
She really didn't care about such trivial matters.
Bennett didn't reply, so Claudia put away her phone and stepped out of the car. She clutched her small purse and made her way to the banquet hall.
Kristy and Anthony's engagement banquet was quite grand. At the entrance, there was a giant signboard that contained the details of the event and a red carpet.
Inside, the staircases were meticulously adorned with fresh, beautiful flowers.
Straightening her spine and keeping her chin parallel to the floor, Claudia took the stairs to the banquet hall.
As soon as she handed over her invitation card to the person in charge of the doors, Kristy came up to her and said, "Mrs. Dreskin, you made it."
Seeing Claudia, Anthony tried not to stare too much but failed.
He forgot just how stunning Claudia was, and being reminded of it right now was like being hit in the face with a brick. Anthony felt like he was a nearsighted person who just put on corrective lenses. Suddenly, the world was all too clear.
“Cece...” he began. Forcing a smile, Claudia handed her gift to the newly engaged couple and told them, "Congratulations to both of you.”
Amya, who was following Kristy like a little puppy dog, snorted and remarked, "Oh, Mrs. Dreskin. Have you come by yourself? Is Mr. Dreskin busy again tonight?”
