Chapter: 575
He wouldn't have bothered looking at them if he had known that it would sting so much.
It was pure self-torture!
Bennett drove to the hotel by himself. He parked his car by the hotel entrance.
Claudia followed Bennett into the car, but suddenly, Anthony rushed out of nowhere and bellowed, "Cece, wait! Will you give me another chance?"
Quick on the draw, Bennett pulled Claudia into his arms and positioned himself between her and Anthony. He snarled, “Your fiancee is inside looking for you, Mr. Nixon."
Anthony acted like he hadn't noticed Bennett's presence. He kept his eyes fixed on Claudia and said, "I know I was wrong, Cece. Really Please. Let's start over. Let's Leave here and start anew. What do you say?"
Claudia thought Anthony had truly lost his mind. "You bailed on our wedding for Delilah before, and now you're using me to break off your engagement with Kristy? Do you really love me, Anthony? Or do you just resent the fact that someone who once loved you so dearly no Longer gave a damn about you?"
Claudia's words struck a nerve in Anthony. He appeared as if all his strength had drained out of him.
Bennett opened his car's passenger-side door, shielded Claudia, and helped her get in.
Then, he shut the door and sneered at Anthony, “You've already hurt Cece once, Mr. Nixon. Do you really want to do it again?"
Anthony raised his head, looked at Bennett with red eyes, and said through gritted teeth, "What right do you have to say all this to me, Bennett? Tell me!"
“Iam her legal husband. Is that right enough for you?"
Bennett pushed him away and said, "Three months ago, you shattered Claudia's heart by abandoning her. Three months later, you're trying to do the same thing. Is this your love for her?"
After pausing briefly, he continued in a bitter tone, "Then your love is cheap. Claudia deserves better."
Anthony wanted to retort, but as he looked at Claudia who was sitting inside Bennett's car, he found himself unable to come up with a single argument.
Three months ago, he left Claudia at the altar for Delilah. Now, he wanted to run away from Kristy to be with Claudia.
If he didn't go back to the banquet hall right now and go through with the engagement ceremony, Claudia would become the target of public criticism.
Bennett's words hit the nail on the head. There was no need for further explanation.
Suddenly, Anthony felt Like he didn't deserve to Lay eyes on Claudia anymore. He felt like a big joke.
Scoffing, Bennett walked around the car and hopped into the driver's seat.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Claudia had already fastened her seat belt. Looking Like a model student, she patiently waited for Bennett.
Bennett looked into her beautiful eyes. He reached for her hand, squeezed it, and said, "Let's go home."
Caught off-guard by his simple three-word statement, Claudia couldn't help beaming and blushing. She echoed, “Yes, let's go home.”
Kristy and Anthony's engagement party turned out to be a massive disaster, and Claudia didn't want to get involved.
