Chapter: 574
At this time, something happened onstage.
Claudia turned her head and looked.
Claudia raised her head and heard the host speaking through the microphone, "Please wait a moment. Mr. Nixon is just dealing with some wardrobe issues."
Standing onstage, Kristy waited for her fiance. She had changed into a new dress for this session.
However, at this crucial moment, Anthony was missing in action.
To Claudia, it felt like deja vu.
One of the darkest, most heartbreaking experiences of her life flashed before her eyes. Did Anthony just run away from his new bride-to-be, just like he did to her before?
Clearly, Kristy shared her doubts.
“Claudia, are you still here? Claudia!"
Suddenly called, Claudia put on a puzzled look.
The doors of the banquet hall suddenly swung open, and a man with a remarkable temperament strode in.
At first, everyone thought it was Anthony, but when they took a good look, they realized they were wrong. Breck waved and yelled, "Hey, Bennett! Over her
If the surroundings were noisy Like before, no one would've heard Breck.
But as Bennett walked in and Kristy called out to Claudia from the stage, all the guests quieted down, rendering the room as silent as a tomb.
Breck's voice captured everyone's attention. Bennett approached Claudia, picked up the microphone on the table, and spoke into it. "Please pardon my tardiness. I've come as fast as I could to join my wife in congratulating Miss Murray and Mr. Nixon on their impending nuptials."
Seeing Bennett, Kristy didn't know how to react. Anthony was nowhere to be found. A few minutes ago, it was possible to make excuses for his sudden disappearance, but now that Bennett had shown up, not anymore.
Claudia took a while to process Bennett's surprise arrival. Looking at her husband's handsome profile under the dim Lights, she felt that the mango candy in her mouth just got even sweeter.
“What are you doing here?" Claudia asked. Bennett looked at her with a faint smile and said jokingly, “I'm here to make sure that no other man will sweep you off your feet and take you away from me, Mrs. Dreskin."
Feeling her cheeks grow hot, Claudia retorted, “How could that be possible?”
Hearing their romantic banter, Breck quickly averted his gaze, pretending to be invisible.
Anthony ditched his fiancee, leaving one hell of a mess in his wake. Claudia didn't want to stick around long enough to witness Kristy implode with humiliation. She said to Bennett, “Let's go home."
She lightly tugged at the tip of Bennett's pinkie, her soft touch registering to him as a cat's tail brushing against him.
Bennett Lowered his head to look at his wife, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. His dark eyes filled with affection as he hoarsely replied, "Okay."
Then, he took Claudia's hand and led her out of the banquet hall. Breck glanced at the couple's retreating figures, his eyes falling on their tightly interlocked fingers.
