Chapter: 61
After dealing with the bothersome Anthony, Jace found Bennett's presence comforting and his demeanor welcoming. “Good evening. We appreciate you coming, Bennett. Please take a seat!"
Bennett glanced at Claudia, moved towards her and directly took a seat beside her. “Thank you, Mr. Marshall. Looking after Claudia is my duty."
Jace poured Bennett a cup of tea. "The man at the gate was making quite a fuss to see Cece. We didn't wish to upset the neighbors, hence the decision to entertain him. Cece asked you to come to ensure he leaves.”
Accepting the tea, Bennett reassured, “Mr. Marshall, please don't worry. Since Cece is my wife, I have complete faith in her."
Upon hearing how he addressed her, Claudia's hands quivered.
Her parents and close friends usually called her Cece, and sometimes Anthony did too.
But Bennett was different. They had only met a handful of times. He always referred to her as "Miss Marshall". After their marriage was legally recognized, he even began calling her "Mrs. Dreskin".
Now, he was using her pet name known only to her close ones.
This made Claudia blush, her ears turning a bright shade of red.
Jace felt content with Bennett's words as he took a gulp of his tea and uttered, "Trust is indeed the most important thing between a couple."
Jace gave Bennett a meaningful look.
After engaging in a brief conversation with Bennett, Jace eventually excused himself.
He ascended the stairs, leaving Claudia and Bennett alone in the Living room.
Bennett gently placed the teacup down, turning his attention to Claudia by his side. Raising his eyebrows, he inquired, "What would you Like to do now, Mrs. Dreskin?"
Caught slightly off guard, Claudia stuttered, "I apologize. Anthony can be quite the pest. Let's go out to grab a bite or have a drink or whatever, okay?"
Claudia realized she had overstepped a Little. She had asked Bennett to come and fetch her, yet she was now hesitant about leaving with him.
Having confessed, Claudia gnawed at her lip, avoiding Bennett's gaze, guilt in her eyes.
Bennett, being a keen observer, knew exactly what Claudia was insinuating. He stretched out his legs, his trouser leg grazing her calves, sending a chill, laced with a tingle, up her leg.
“What do you have in mind?"
Claudia instinctively recoiled her legs. "There is a street near
Munville Square, and there are many stalls and booths there. How about we go there?"
As Claudia observed Bennett dressed in a crisp suit, she suddenly felt that the place she picked wasn't suitable for him. “Let's go somewhere else. How about we head to the Mcaster Restaurant in the mall?"
