Chapter: 732
The master bedroom was bathed in midday Light.
Bennett had just closed the curtain using the remote control when she came out of the bathroom.
Claudia pulled back the cover and climbed into bed. Once she was lying down, she asked, "Aren't you going to sleep?"
Bennett stared back at her with a playful smile on his face. "Mrs. Dreskin, are you inviting me to join you on the bed?"
He was technically right, but his suggestive tone prompted Claudia to be defensive. "Yes, to take a nap."
Blushing, Claudia turned her back to him and closed her eyes. "Anyway, I'm going to sleep now."
She cursed inwardly. Bennett studied the woman on the bed, and then let out a soft chuckle. Actually, Claudia did feel sleepy. The room's illumination had decreased, and a few minutes after she closed her eyes, she immediately drifted off to sleep.
It was already three o'clock in the afternoon by the time she opened her eyes again.
She rubbed her face to get rid of her remaining drowsiness, and then she decided to do some piano practice.
Bennett was not in the room. When she passed by the study, she noticed that the door to the study was open. Even though she knew he was in there, she went straight to the music room because she did not want to disturb him.
Claudia spent the next hour playing the piano before she returned to the room to get ready. After searching her closet for several minutes, she settled on a yellow floral strapless long dress, a white jacket, and a pair of flat sandals.
She was examining her reflection in the mirror when Bennett pushed the door open and came in.
She turned to him with a shy smile and said, "I'm ready." Bennett glanced at the ring of curls that framed her face and said,
“Let's go, then."
Instead of walking to him, Claudia twirled and then asked, "I... Do I not look good in this dress?"
She actually wanted to ask if he found her pretty. However, she did not want to sound conceited.
Bennett gave her a reassuring smile.
“The dress is beautiful, but you are even more beautiful, Mrs. Dreskin."
With a shy snort, she turned away from him. Feeling content, she walked up to him and grabbed his hand.
“Let's go."
Bennett added in a hoarse voice, "You're so beautiful that I don't want anyone else to see you."
At that, her cheeks immediately flushed.
Claudia's face was still flushed from Bennett's words when she got into the car.
She rolled the window down to let some air in as the vehicle slowly pulled away from the driveway. The summer breeze swept in, and her face's redness gradually faded.
