Chapter: 742
She licked her lower lip before saying, “I just want to ask if Breck or your other friends are still single.”
Upon hearing that, Bennett's expression grew serious.
Like he was seeking revenge, he squished her into his arms and nipped her ear, asking, "Are you planning to cheat on me?"
How he got to that conclusion, Claudia had no idea.
“Of course not. Aurora wants to know because she's also single." Bennett hummed before chuckling. "Breck is still single."
Truthfully, Claudia did not mean anything by asking that. She thought that Breck and Aurora would not get along because they were very different types of people.
"Forget it. Let's just pretend that we didn't have this conversation." Economic compatibility in marriage had been a necessity since ancient times. Despite his seemingly carefree appearance, Breck was the eldest son of the Santos family and owned fifty percent of their family business, the Gildemeister Group.
While Claudia did not think Aurora was not worthy of Breck, she had to acknowledge the Santos family was not inferior to the Dreskin family due to their abundance of wealth. If she and Bennett made genuine efforts to bring Aurora and Breck together but they ended up breaking up, it would be like it was their fault for introducing them to each other.
Claudia was not a fool. She gave consideration to her decisions before making them,
"Bennett," she called out.
"Yes? Feel free to ask any questions you Like. Don't hesitate."
The wariness in her eyes made Bennett chuckle. Why was she so afraid of him?
Claudia Lowered her head as she muttered, "My family is so much lower class than yours. What were you thinking when you married me?"
“I wasn't really thinking.”
“Oh," Claudia uttered, feeling somewhat disappointed.
Then again, she was the one who asked him to marry her. He just agreed to it to return the favor he owed her.
Smiling mischievously, Bennett remarked, "It was the first time I'd seen a rabbit throw itself into a trap."
“Did you just compare me to a rabbit?"
“Aren't you fond of rabbits?"
Although embarrassed, Claudia willed herself to meet his gaze.
She was not sure if it was just her imagination playing tricks on her, but she had a feeling that Bennett's words had hidden meanings.
She was too shy to ask about it, though, so she just feigned a yawn and said, "I'm sleepy. Come on. Let's go to bed."
After Bennett switched the light off, darkness descended in the room. Claudia flung the covers aside, Lay down on the bed, and scooted closer to Bennett.
His scent matched hers, probably because they used the same body wash. She squinted her eyes to see better in the dark, kissed him on the cheek, and then immediately closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. Bennett grinned and refrained from further teasing her.
