Chapter: 770
This time around, Aurora stayed silent. Claudia cast her eyes on a visibly angered Felicity before turning her attention slowly to the store manager, saying, “I apologize. Despite the recent rush, it appears the dress she's holding was ordered by me."
It was actually her husband who made the purchase. However, they were a couple and he ordered it for her, so it was indeed hers, right?
At this time, she felt bold enough to claim that with a stronger conviction.
Right after Claudia said these words, the facial expressions of Felicity and her companion changed remarkably.
Maleah refused to believe it, remarking, "This sounds like an entirely new sort of prank."
Reacting promptly, the manager asked, “Are you perhaps Miss Marshall?"
Claudia affirmed it, wearing a grin that carried a hint of cunning, and remarked, “Surprisingly, yes, it is indeed me."
The shop manager was shocked and said to Felicity, "Miss Armstrong, I am truly sorry. The reservation for this dress was made by Miss
Marshall. We were to deliver it to her address by tomorrow, but the ironing process today delayed us from taking it back in time."
Felicity's face turned somber immediately. Almost instinctively, she cast the dress aside, exclaiming, "This is ridiculous!"
While speaking, she grabbed her bag, and said, “Maleah, we should leave immediately!"
Today just wasn't the day for her to go out!
Claudia examined the dress strewn on the floor and furrowed her brow. She then turned to Felicity and said with deliberation, "You know what, Miss Armstrong? Since you have such a fondness for this dress, it's all yours. I've actually ordered three, and I certainly won't miss this one."
Right after Claudia articulated her offer, Aurora chimed in perceptively, "Given that Miss Armstrong tossed aside the dress without a second thought, there's a chance it might be damaged now. Considering Miss Armstrong's wealth, covering the cost of the dress shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Felicity tried to retort, saying, "I don't even like this ugly dress," but Aurora's statement left her without a response.
She intended to accuse Claudia and Aurora of extortion, yet Claudia met her gaze warmly and suggested, "No worries at all. Consider the dress a gift from us to you, Miss Armstrong."
Following this, Claudia bestowed a playful yet slightly mocking smile upon Felicity.
This expression, both innocent and laden with irony, was a first for Felicity; never before had she felt so undermined.
Overwhelmed with rage, she managed to say between clenched teeth, "I don't want your pity! How much does it cost? I'll pay for it!"
Claudia bit her lips and seemed to be in a dilemma.
“Well... Alright, in that case, please bag the dress for Miss Armstrong to take with her.”
“No, no, forget packing it. I don't like this ugly dress. Process the payment already!"
Felicity interrupted sharply, handing her card to the manager. The flustered manager glanced between Claudia and Felicity, her hesitation earning her a rebuke from Felicity, “What are you fucking waiting for? Hurry up, charge the card, and transfer the amount to her!"
The store manager seemed eager to interject, yet Claudia intervened, “Just do as Miss Armstrong said."
