Chapter: 821
The traffic was quite sporadic and unpredictable at the moment.
Aurora was about to ask Claudia if Bennett really planned to attend the competition on the 17th when Claudia's phone suddenly rang.
At the same time, the traffic Light changed to green. Claudia could not answer the call because she was driving, so she asked Aurora to do it for her and put it on speaker.
It was a call from Bennett. He was asking when Claudia would be home. The man’s deep voice was dripping with fondness and amusement, making it sound even more charming than it already was.
As usual, the couple's display of affection for each other made Aurora feel miserable.
She really should have just taken a taxi to get home.
Claudia shyly replied, "I'm driving Aurora home. I should be home by eight o'clock.”
“Okay, drive safe. I'm hanging up."
With that, Bennett ended the call, and the phone made a short beeping sound. Even though the couple did not exchange any particularly romantic words, Aurora could not help but feel a pang of envy.
She put the phone down and glanced over at Claudia, who was driving attentively. Suddenly, an absurd thought occurred to her. What if Bennett already knew that Claudia was CC?
Considering what Kayla had said to Claudia, Aurora realized the possibility was not far-fetched.
When they got to the next intersection, the light was red again, so Claudia stopped the car.
Aurora cleared her throat and inquired, "Girl, can I ask you a question?"
When Claudia turned her head toward the passenger seat, she noticed Aurora staring intently at her. Instantly, she began to feel nervous.
“What's wrong? You're not thinking that I'm neglecting you because of Bennett, are you?"
"No, that's not it. You know I'm just kidding whenever I scold you for being lovey-dovey with your husband." After a pause, she continued, "I'm just thinking, what if Bennett has been aware of your true identity as CC from the start?"
Claudia blinked, and then she huffed. "That's impossible. You're overthinking it
She had thought of that before, but it was just too impossible to be true.
Aurora remained persistent. "No, hear me out. You know what kind of person he is, right? Do you really think he'll marry you for no reason? Also, think about what Kayla told you. She said that his special one was a motorboat racer, and he never missed one of her competitions.
How could he possibly agree to your crazy idea to get married if he didn't know you were CC from the start? He's not Anthony, who has known you for years. Also, why would he give up his bachelor life for someone he just met? Something must be off!"
Aurora's enthusiasm grew the more she talked, while Claudia found her line of thinking increasingly bizarre. "You're overanalyzing everything. Why didn't he just get me a motorboat for my birthday if he knew I was CC all along?"
“Maybe he's trying to build suspense between the two of you."
Claudia sent her an unimpressed glance.
“Stop that. I have to focus on driving. Don't you know that it's not a good idea to distract the driver, Miss Haywood?"
