Chapter: 1734
Isaac reclined in his seat. "Yes, I'm a bit upset."
Camila explained, "Our jobs are different. You're a manager. It's okay for you to be strict since your team has to work hard for you.
But my job relies on teamwork. We often need several people for one experiment, so cooperation is key. If my team isn't united, my work becomes nearly impossible. Do you see where I'm coming from?"
Isaac did not think so much.
Hearing Camila's perspective made Isaac realize their work environments were indeed different.
“I understand," he said.
“Are you still upset?" Camila inquired.
Isaac glanced at her. "I can let it go, but can you do something for me?"
“What's that?"
Isaac paused before responding, "From now on, sleep in the bed."
Camila remained silent for a bit, her hands gripping the steering wheel tighter.
Finally, in a soft voice, she said, "Okay."
Isaac, hearing her faint voice, couldn't help but smile.
Back home, as they settled into bed, Isaac wrapped his arms around her.
Camila's body felt rigid, as if he was holding a warm, unyielding stone.
Sensing her tension, Isaac decided to distract her with a story. "Do you know what I did to the assistant director's family?"
"How did you handle them?" Camila inquired.
Isaac began, "The assistant director has an only son, their treasured child. I got the son fired, claiming he leaked confidential info. He faces a lawsuit and compensation. I made sure he knew it was me.
Today, the assistant director's wife begged me to spare her son. I warned her. If they ever hurt you again, her son would face a worse fate. She was too frightened to even respond."
Turning towards him, Camila stayed quiet for a long while.
