Chapter: 1787
"It's a black van, no license plate," Camila answered.
The van appeared brand new, likely purchased recently. It seemed they intentionally chose an unmarked vehicle for their wrongdoing.
“There's a security camera over there." Camila pointed to a spot nearby. "I've already called the police. They can probably access the surveillance footage faster, but you might get to it quicker on your own."
Alick's hand tensed visibly. "Understood."
“I'm so sorry. This is my fault, Annis being kidnapped," Camila confessed.
Alick reassured her, "You didn't mean for this to happen."
Just then, someone answered his call.
Alick stepped away to talk, while Camila, still holding onto the driver, departed. The driver's injuries were still bleeding.
Camila decided to take him to her research institute first.
She helped the driver get into the car and started driving.
Hyman, who was about to finish his shift, noticed Camila's return.
Initially, he wanted to greet her, but was taken aback to see her supporting a man drenched in blood.
"Uh..."
Camila instructed briskly, “He needs immediate medical attention. Get some tools ready.”
Acknowledging with a nod, Hyman hurried off to gather the necessary equipment.
Camila assisted the driver to a chair. Shortly after, Hyman returned with a medical kit, setting it on a table nearby.
Efficiently, Camila used scissors to cut away the driver's clothing around the injury.
Her movements were swift and decisive, showing no hesitation.
She then cleaned and disinfected the wound, revealing its severity.
A long, deep, and bloody laceration scarred his back.
