Chapter: 1810
"I informed him," Camila replied. "He's aware."
"What did he say?" Annis's voice held a hint of longing to know his reaction.
"He said he'd visit once you're feeling better." Camila was being honest. Alick had indeed promised to see her, a gesture that spoke volumes about his feelings. "Alick is a good man," she observed.
Annis, lips dry, whispered, “I'd rather he was a bit less so. I don't want to be a burden to him."
Camila found herself at a loss for words. She could see that Annis truly loved him, yet didn't want him to witness her in such a state.
"I'm disgusted with myself," Annis murmured.
Suddenly, the plane lurched violently, causing a startling whoosh!
The plane went through some rough turbulence and strong winds.
Soon after, though, things settled down.
With the time difference, it was still daylight when they landed in Faymoor.
Before the flight, Camila had reached out to Nelson. As they left the plane and headed towards the exit, they spotted him waiting nearby.
Annis didn't know, but Camila had filled Nelson in on everything in secret.
He had a serious look on his face when waiting for them.
Yet, he acted as if nothing had happened when they walked over.
He didn't want to stress Annis out.
Greeting them with a smile, he said, "You are back."
"Dad." Annis played along, pretending everything was fine.
But she couldn't even manage a smile.
All she did was try to look normal.
However, her red, puffy eyes and weary expression betrayed her true state.
