Chapter: 1818
But then, she gave in.
She surrendered to the romance of the night.
It felt like an endless night.
And just like that, the night slipped away.
As Camila awoke, the sunlight streaming through the curtains was blindingly bright.
She scrunched her face, curious about the time.
Suddenly, a soft voice announced, “It's ten o'clock."
Surprised, Camila shot up in bed and exclaimed, “It's already ten?"
She touched her forehead in disbelief. How could she sleep so late?
She threw back the covers and got out of bed.
Isaac approached and explained, "I let you sleep. You were exhausted. You've hardly slept at all these last couple of days, right?"
Camila murmured a quiet confirmation.
“Better freshen up. Glenda's got breakfast ready. Let's head down and eat," he suggested.
Camila, looking curious, asked him, "You're not going out today?"
She knew Isaac was usually busier than she was and rarely stayed home.
“I thought I'd take some time to be with you," he replied.
Touched by his words, Camila walked up to him, wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on her toes, and planted a gentle kiss on his chin. "Give me a minute to get ready, and we can head out together."
“Sounds good," Isaac responded.
Over breakfast, Camila hesitated before asking, "Any leads on the matter?"
Isaac clearly understood her query. "Yes, Alick and I are handling it. Don't stress about it," he assured her, placing a glass of warm milk in front of her. "Drink it."
