Chapter: 1822
“Eagle, the thought of him makes my skin crawl. Keep him away!"
With that, Camila pivoted resolutely.
Every second felt like an eternity. She had to go.
Harland let out a shrill scream, his face contorting in terror. Then, silence. As if someone had thrown a switch, the sound ceased.
As Camila pivoted, her eyes fell upon Harland sprawled on the ground, writhing in agony. Strangely, though, no sound escaped his lips, as if he were robbed of his voice.
She arched an eyebrow, casting a fleeting glance at Eagle.
“He has been rendered unable to make a sound. He will be discarded now," he stated resolutely.
He manhandled Harland, forcing him out of the gate.
He moved with an effortless grace, as if he were holding a chicken in his grasp.
Relief flooded Camila's face as Eagle returned. "Thank you," she breathed, the words laced with gratitude.
Then, with purpose in her stride, she entered the building.
Compared to the former bodyguard, Eagle was much more expert and experienced.
He zipped through his work with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine.
"Ma'am," Hilaria greeted Camila, her face lighting up with a flattering smile as soon as she caught sight of her.
Ignoring Hilaria completely, Camila strode towards Hyman. “Get the chief engineer to the meeting room immediately," she instructed, her voice laced with urgency. “I have a situation that requires his expertise."
The artificial heart, despite its name, was not a true substitute for a human heart.
It served as a man-made machine designed to replicate the functions of a natural heart.
The machine's intricate design, a testament to engineering genius, necessitated the precise craftsmanship of a skilled professional.
“But the former director of the institute is present," Hyman informed her.
“Where is he?!" Camila asked, her voice laced with excitement.
