Chapter: 1861
Camila's response painted a smile on Isaac's face. “That's right. We shouldn't care about what they say because it's their mouths that spout nonsense, not ours." He handed her his cup of coffee. "Here, take a sip and soothe yourself."
Camila thought she was over it, but when Isaac brought the topic up again, her annoyance resurfaced.
“Talking about this upsets me. Why don't you attend your meeting first?"
“Alright, understood." Isaac stood up after planting a kiss on Camila's cheek. "I'll be going then. I'll stop bothering you."
Before he could fully retreat from the room, Camila pulled his sleeve, making him look back at her. “Make it quick. Let's go home early.”
“You got it, Mrs. Johnston," Isaac replied with an assuring smile.
Camila went back to Isaac's finance books in his office when he left.
But she found them boring, so sleep soon took her.
Her body was getting back at her because she stayed up late last night then woke up early. She also missed taking her usual nap to get work done quickly. Now, her tiredness caught up to her, making her very sleepy.
Soon, she put the book down and laid on the sofa for a quick rest that turned to a deep slumber.
By the time Isaac was done with the meeting, she was curled up on the sofa-a seemingly small ball-like figure.
Isaac found her in this delicate position. He let her have her rest, draping his suit jacket on her.
Just then, the office phone rang, so he quickly stood up to answer it.
The sound woke Camila up in a daze.
She rubbed the grogginess from her eyes. Then, she saw Isaac by the desk talking on the phone.
She wasn't able to hear the other person's part of the conversation.
She didn't get much from Isaac's, too. She just saw his brief response before he hung up.
"Are you done with your meeting?" Camila asked.
“Yes, I'm all yours." Isaac walked over to her. “Sorry, did the phone wake you up?"
"No need to apologize; it didn't," she told him, shaking her head.
