Chapter: 1892
"Take a seat," Annis said as she gestured.
Annis seemed unsure. "I look awful."
Her hair was messy and she wore loose pajamas.
"No need for that. We're friends," Camila reassured her.
Annis grinned.
"You've slimmed down. Are you eating okay?" Camila inquired.
Seating herself, Annis sighed, saying, “I've lost my appetite."
She forced herself to eat so as not to concern Nelson.
Seeing her frail form, Camila's heart ached.
"Let's head downstairs," Annis suggested, rising.
Camila agreed and they descended together.
The living room was empty.
"Where's my dad?" Annis asked the servant.
"In the study," came the reply.
Approaching the study door, Annis went to knock but found it slightly ajar. Nelson's voice drifted out. "Annis is so devoted. If I ever pass, she's my top concern. I've a favor to ask. I might be asking too much but could you tell me where your mom's buried? I ‘d be grateful, no more requests after that."
“I'll look after her like family."
Isaac understood Nelson's unspoken request.
Nelson likely wanted him to take care of Annis.
Isaac had noticed Annis was genuinely good-hearted.
This time, she was hurt because of Camila.
