Chapter: 1898
She had him place a cup before Rugal.
Rugal, on the other hand, took some time to think. It took about an hour.
"I have something to say, but it must be between just the two of us."
Upon hearing this, Camila signaled Hyman to leave and made sure he closed the door behind him.
"Go ahead. Feel free to talk to me," Camila said.
Still trying to find his words, Rugal took a while, and then he said, "There is a scheme against me. I had no choice but to sign a contract and sell the technology off to them."
"Them? Who are they?" Camila pressed.
Rugal continued, "From what I know, they're in the artificial heart business, and they are profit driven. They had approached me before you did, but I didn't want to associate with them. They probably heard I was going to sign the contract with you, so they resorted to underhanded tactics to force me into a corner."
Camila was left speechless. “How did they coerce you?"
Bowing his head, he answered, "I was set up in a honey trap."
He raised his head afterwards and looked at her pleadingly. "Please help me. I don't want to cooperate with them and I also can't afford to lose my family. What would my wife think of me if she sees those photos? How do I face my children? It would ruin my life."
Camila was careful not to respond immediately.
This matter required a full-proof solution.
“Can you help me? Can you?" He looked at her despondently.
“Let me thoroughly think this through, okay? Don't panic. I'll put a call through to someone I know. Something might still be done to remedy this situation, I believe."
“Really? You would do that? Thank you so much. In that case, I'll wait." He saw a silver Lining.
He firmly wrapped his hands around the cup.
After they finished talking, Camila walked out of the conference room.
She halted in front of a French window and hesitated before she reached for her phone.
She received an alert that made her pause as she tried to dial Isaac's number.
