Chapter: 1951
“sure," Camila said, giving a nod.
About ten minutes later, the operation room door swung open once more, revealing a doctor dressed in green scrubs, complete with a surgical cap and mask. Seeing Camila, he removed his mask and asked, "Are you related to the patient?"
"Yes," Camila affirmed with a nod.
"Here is the situation. The patient's heart is racing, with a rate of over 170 beats per minute. With dropping blood pressure and a risk of sudden cardiac arrest, it's critical. Right now, the patient's on the brink, with their heart at risk of stopping at any moment. If you hadn't arrived when you did, the patient wouldn't have made it."
Camila understood what was going on with the director.
So, when the doctor spoke, she wasn't shocked at all.
"Do you have a treatment plan?" she asked calmly.
"At present, there's no definitive treatment."
"What about the artificial heart, the auxiliary device that can replace the natural heart to supply blood to the human body? Can it resolve the patient's current issue?"
“Yes, there's a possibility. But the artificial heart is still in the early stages here, with only a few successful cases reported abroad," the doctor replied.
Looking at him, Camila revealed, "I'm affiliated with the Hammaslahti Research Center. We have access to the artificial heart. Can you perform the surgery?"
The doctor shook his head and asked, “Has it been proven effective? I haven't heard anything about it."
"It's still in the experimental stage," Camila admitted honestly.
"Well..." the doctor glanced at her, asking, “What are you suggesting? Are you considering using the experimental device on the patient?"
"There's no other choice," Camila asserted.
The doctor quickly dismissed the idea, saying, “It's absolutely impossible."
He gestured dismissively and stated, "Not only is it against the rules, but it's also too risky. We can't play games with someone's life. Plus, I've never performed this type of surgery before. It's just not feasible."
Right after the doctor spoke, a nurse hurried out, saying, “Dr. Quelch, Dr. Griffith needs you urgently. The patient's in trouble."
As Ernesto Quelch turned, Camila stopped him. “Wait. I'll perform the surgery!"
Ernesto glanced back at her with a look of disbelief.
