Chapter: 2041
With a sigh, she leaned back in her sofa, her mind drifting to the unsettling possibility of Kameron's death.
Yet, despite her efforts to piece together the puzzle, she found herself no closer to unraveling the mystery, her frustration mounting with each passing moment.
In a fit of restless energy, Camila absentmindedly ran her fingers through her hair, a nervous habit she couldn't seem to shake.
Ding!
Just as she was beginning to resign herself to the silence of her phone, a familiar ding broke the stillness of the room.
Snatching up her phone, Camila's eyes quickly scanned the message from Laura.
Her heart skipped a beat. Laura had asked, "What can I do for you?"
With a sense of urgency, she composed her reply, carefully navigating the delicate balance of her request. "Can you go back to Heinz?"
Camila typed, her fingers hovering over the screen as she awaited Laura's response.
There was a brief pause before Laura's reply came through. “Do I have to go back to help you?" Laura's message read.
Taking a deep breath, Camila steadied herself before typing out her response. "Yes," she replied simply.
In fact, she didn't want to trouble or embarrass Laura.
After all, Laura was married and moved on with her new life, and Camila couldn't help but feel a twinge of remorse for disrupting her friend's newfound happiness. "Well, I just miss you. So I am kidding with you," Camila typed quickly, attempting to brush off the seriousness of her request with a lighthearted tone.
“I know you well," Laura replied. She remained unconvinced, her skepticism evident. “I'll check the ticket today," she replied tersely.
“Thank you," Camila responded, her gratitude tinged with a hint of resignation.
Yet Laura was quick to brush off her thanks, insisting, "Come on! Don't be so polite."
Camila couldn't help but smile at Laura's familiar insistence.
It was moments like these that reminded her of the bond they shared-a bond that transcended distance and time.
Before Camila could respond, another message appeared on the screen.
"I got the ticket. It's eight o'clock tonight," Laura informed her, her efficiency surprising Camila.
