Chapter: 2042
“Call me when you arrive. I'll pick you up," Camila replied promptly, eager to finalize their plans.
"Okay," Laura agreed, her acceptance bringing a sense of relief to Camila's heart.
Creak!
As Camila prepared to set her phone aside, the sound of the door opening drew her attention.
She looked up to see Isaac entering, followed closely by Forrest.
With the conversation with Laura concluded, Camila decided to switch off her phone and slip it into her pocket, not wanting Isaac to know this.
As Isaac entered the room, she greeted him calmly.
However, his somber expression didn't go unnoticed.
Isaac's arrival was no coincidence; he had likely heard the news of Kameron's death.
That was why he came back at this time.
Taking a seat on the sofa, he seemed burdened by the weight of the news.
Sensing his troubled state, Camila didn't hesitate to inquire, "Do you know it?"
Isaac nodded solemnly, his voice barely above a whisper. "He died for no reason."
Camila's brow furrowed in contemplation. “It's strange," she agreed, voicing the unsettling feeling that lingered within her.
“When he woke up, the results of the examinations were all good,"
Camila continued, recalling the events leading up to Kameron's sudden demise. “Although I didn't oversee the procedure myself, Dr. Quelch was with him. I trust him."
Isaac regarded her thoughtfully. "Do you mean that he might not have died from the operation?" he questioned.
"Yes," Camila affirmed, her certainty unwavering. "He had woken up, indicating that his body had adapted to the implanted heart. His mental state was stable. His sudden death... it feels unusual."
Isaac nodded, considering her words carefully. “I'll send someone to investigate," he offered, but Camila shook her head.
"No," she interjected firmly. "I have an idea."
