Isaac jumped up. He barged into the lab and asked, “What happened?"

Isaac raised an eyebrow. "Hemlock? What's that?"

“It's a poisonous plant," Camila replied. “Just one can take down a couple of bulls if it's purified."

The mystery of who would poison Kameron had her stumped.

"Maybe he ate it by accident?" Isaac suggested.

"No."

Camila shut that idea down fast. “Nope. That plant's only in foreign places, not here. There's no way someone just happened upon it. Plus, the symptoms start with weakness all over, then the heart slows, and the brain doesn't get enough oxygen. That leads to a coma, and eventually, the heart fails, causing death. It could easily Look Like a surgery gone wrong. No way this was accidental. It's more Likely someone with serious medical skills did this on purpose."

Isaac squinted and asked, "Does this mean someone's got you in their sights?"

Based on the evidence so far, that was the only conclusion.

Only a skilled forensic expert could detect that Kameron had been poisoned. Otherwise, it would seem like he died from heart failure due to poor blood flow.

That would be bad news for Camila.

Everyone would blame her for the failed artificial heart she had implanted in Kameron.
