Chapter: 2106
Camila watched his back, noting the unmistakable air of loneliness about him.
"Are you okay?" Camila asked gently.
Forrest's body tensed, a sudden chill seizing him.
A prolonged quiet lingered before he murmured, his voice barely audible, “I'm okay."
With deliberate movements, he swung open the car door, slipping into the driver's seat. "Just go back," he instructed.
Camila, her resolve faltering, finally advanced. She reached out, her hand coming to rest on the car door, and uttered, "Maybe it's time to let go."
Meeting her gaze, Forrest's eyes reflected a profound sadness. “I already have," he confessed, his voice heavy with resignation.
A surge of empathy welled within her, a desire to offer solace. Yet, as she searched for the right words, they eluded her.
Countless other women existed in the world, perhaps ones more suited for him. It was the best reassurance she could muster.
But there was someone better suited for him, yet not the one he loved most.
Finding someone you genuinely cherished proved the greatest challenge of all.
“I'll manage. Don't fret. I'm not that delicate."
With a decisive turn of the ignition, Forrest set the car in motion.
“Just go back. They're waiting for you."
And with that, he departed, leaving Camila behind.
As she watched him vanish into the distance, a pang of sympathy welled within her for Forrest.
Suddenly, a comforting presence enveloped her, a gentle hand resting on her shoulder.
Startled, she turned to find Isaac at her side.
"I believe he's quite distraught," she murmured, her voice heavy with empathy.
Isaac's voice gently broke through the somber air, offering a timely reminder, "Don't dwell too much on others."
