Chapter: 2123
"No PIN."
After processing his payment, the waitress returned the card to him.
Putting the card back into his wallet, Forrest stood up, hung his jacket over his shoulder, and walked out.
It was already bright outside.
Forrest looked up and squinted his eyes at the blaring sun.
Flashing a weak smile, he stepped out into the street and walked toward his car.
From now on, he would forget about Laura for good.
With the newfound resolve, he got into the car, started the engine, and drove off.
The traffic light turned red at the intersection, so he slowed down.
Someone approached at this moment.
The traffic police stopped him. Several entertainment venues were in the vicinity. Consequently, the police frequently asked drivers to undergo a breathalyzer test. The scent of alcohol still lingered heavily around Forrest.
"Get out of the car, please." The policeman gestured emphatically with his hand.
Forrest was dumbfounded. He reluctantly exited the car and complied with the inspection. He couldn't recall how much he had drunk since it had been an entire night. Nevertheless, he was cited for driving under the influence.
His car was impounded. He was taken into custody, facing penalties and detention.
At the hospital, the patient with heart disease underwent surgery.
Camila performed the operation. She was the only one in the hospital who had mastered an artificial heart surgery. Her colleagues lacked her level of confidence.
Additionally, the technology of artificial hearts was not yet perfected, which made other doctors hesitant to perform the operation.
They feared the potential repercussions. Camila, however, was also reluctant to face such risks. But when Hyman referred the patient and his family to her, she felt compelled by her professional ethics to accept.
Consequently, Hyman had involved her in this challenging case. The surgery extended over five hours.
Drawing on her previous experience, Camila felt confident and managed the procedure skillfully. The patient was young and robust enough to withstand the extensive surgery. Moreover, the operation was a success, offering substantial hope for recovery.
