Chapter: 2125
Annis shook her head. “Not for now. Things are good as they are.”
Just then, Joe hugged Camila's legs. “Mom, hug me," he pleaded.
Camila lifted her son, who was feigning helplessness. “You're getting so heavy!"
Annis playfully patted Joe's bottom. “You've gained some weight," she noted as Joe's cheeks appeared rounder.
"No, I'm not fat," Joe pouted, his skin was tender and smooth. "It hot." He attempted to say “it hurts" but mispronounced it.
Annis couldn't help but laugh and pinched him gently again.
Buzz—
Suddenly, Camila's phone buzzed. Annis took Joe into her arms as Camila pulled out her phone to answer it.
Forrest's voice came through from the other end. "I'm detained."
Camila exclaimed in surprise, "What?"
Forrest reassured, "It's not a major issue, just a case of drunk driving. Don't fret. The police requested that I inform my family. My mother wouldn't concern herself with my whereabouts even if I didn't return home. That's why I chose to reach out to you."
He frequently stayed away for extended periods, which his mother was used to.
Camila inquired, "Should I inform your mother?"
"No, thanks," Forrest said firmly.
After a moment of hesitation, she queried, “Did this happen today?"
He confirmed with a simple "Yes."
Frowning, Camila remarked, "Isaac mentioned that you're a resilient man, aren't you? Why did you drink so much to drown your sorrows?"
"Not too much. Just a few drinks," Forrest replied.
Camila was left speechless.
Had he drunk just a few cups? So why did he end up at the police station? Camila shook her head helplessly.
