Everyone got up to toast.

Camila, unable to drink, felt trapped.

She tried to sip as little as possible.

She rarely drank, after all.

The pungency of the liquor was unmistakable.

She savored the food in her mouth slowly.

Hyman announced, "Camila, let's raise a glass in your honor."

Camila was taken aback.

“Hyman, I..."

"What's the matter? Is my gesture not to your liking? Won't you share a drink with me to celebrate?"

Before Camila could decline, Hyman cut her off.

With gratitude in her voice, Camila said, "You've been incredibly generous and supportive. Thank you so much."

Declining Hyman was not an option for her.

She found herself accepting another glass.

Hyman joined her, drinking his own glass.

The others around them were eager to join in.

Camila tried to say no.

Yet, they challenged her, "You've shared a drink with Hyman. Are we so different? Why treat us differently?"

Camila was at a loss for words.
