Chapter: 2194
Her request placed Morrison in a bind; his principles forbade him from bending the law for personal gain.

Laura understood this well, realizing she had placed him in a difficult position.

With a heavy heart, she relinquished her plea for help with Aldrin.

She couldn't bear to see Morrison compromise his professional integrity, nor did she wish to expose him to undue risk.

“I'll go prepare some warm water for you. You can relax with a bubble bath later," Laura declared, preparing to make her way to the bathroom.

Morrison intervened, halting her in her tracks. "You stay here. I'll take care of it," he insisted.

Laura gestured for him to sit, countering, "You've had a long day. Let me handle it. I insist."

But Morrison wouldn't hear of it, especially not with her pregnancy.

"I've got it covered. You should rest," he countered, guiding her gently toward the bedroom.

Laura had no choice but to acquiesce to Morrison's insistence.

That evening, she found herself restless, unable to find sleep as she tossed and turned with worry.

Morrison could feel her distress and offered a soothing pat on her back. "Try not to think about it. Let's just try to sleep," he whispered gently.

"I am asleep. You have work tomorrow; you should rest," Laura murmured, her voice laced with exhaustion.

Morrison chuckled softly. "If you're asleep, why are you talking to me? Dreaming out loud?"

Laura was momentarily speechless.

Morrison leaned in, planting a tender kiss on her forehead. “I'll handle it. Don't fret," he reassured her, prompting her to open her eyes in the dimness.

“Please don't involve yourself," she implored, fearing for his career.

“I know what I'm doing. Just rest," Morrison insisted firmly.

Laura closed her eyes slowly, eventually succumbing to sleep, albeit much later than desired.

The following day, as Morrison stepped into the office, he wasted no time instructing his team to gather all available information on Aldrin.
