Chapter: 2204
“Why would you twist my words like that?" he finally managed to ask.
Laura grinned mischievously. "I was just teasing you. You looked so serious."
Morrison couldn't help but chuckle at her antics.
In the beginning, Laura's smiles had often seemed forced, but now, he sensed a genuine warmth in her laughter.
Relieved, he began serving food for her, urging, “Let's eat before it gets cold."
"Okay," Laura replied softly, picking up her fork and knife.
After they finished dinner, Morrison retired to bed, exhaustion weighing heavily on him from the previous sleepless night.
Meanwhile, Laura tidied up the table and kitchen, mindful not to disturb Morrison's rest.
Remembering the doctor's advice about the benefits of walking during pregnancy, she decided to go for a stroll.
As she fetched her coat from the room, she noticed Morrison's exposed arm wrapped in gauze.
Arching an eyebrow, she approached the bedside to inspect it more closely.
Morrison stirred from his light slumber, sensing someone's gaze upon him. Blinking groggily, he focused on her face. “Laura?”
“Are you injured?" Laura inquired, her concern evident in her voice.
Morrison shrugged lightly. "It's nothing serious," he reassured her.
Feeling a pang of guilt, Laura spoke softly. "As your wife, I should be more attentive. You're hurt, yet I didn't even notice..."
"Darling," Morrison interjected, gently taking her hand in his.
"You're right. It's my fault for not telling you.”
"Does it hurt?" Laura asked, her worry deepening.
Morrison shook his head. “It's just a scratch. No big deal for a man," he insisted.
Laura gently disagreed. "You're human too, with flesh and blood."
