Chapter: 2253
A spark of ingenuity ignited in the policewoman's mind. She grabbed her phone, pretending to take a call. “Hey, what's up? Is the surgery finished? He's okay? That's amazing!"
Colin's face lit up. “Is the operation done?"
The policewoman nodded subtly. "They said it all went well."
Slowly, Laura's hand dropped to her side.
A smile graced her lips, masking the tears in her eyes.
But beneath her facade of happiness, the tears threatened to overflow once more.
Her lips, parched and trembling, managed to whisper. "Just as long as he's okay."
“Now, you can have a cesarean, right?" Colin's voice cut through the tension.
Laura remained silent, her agreement evident in her demeanor.
Urgently, Laura was whisked away to the operating room for the cesarean.
Colin turned to depart, his back to the unfolding events.
But the policewoman's voice halted him. "Colin, I need to come clean."
Surprise flickered in Colin's eyes as he turned to face her.
His brows furrowed in confusion.
But comprehension quickly followed.
"So the phone call is.."
“Yes, I didn't get any calls," the policewoman clarified.
Colin's gratitude was evident.
"You handled that well."
Without her intervention, Laura wouldn't have considered the cesarean.
