Chapter: 2265
“You're welcome," Jovanni replied. It was clearly a significant matter; otherwise, Camila wouldn't have sought his help.
Jovanni knew that without her assistance, he wouldn't be in his current position. Coming from a modest background, he had always relied on his own efforts and never anticipated breaking away from his old routine. This opportunity was unexpected, a turning point he hadn't imagined possible.
“How's everything going with your work?" Camila inquired, remembering her own challenging start as the research institute's director.
Jovanni recognized why she asked. She had faced initial resistance in her role.
"It's different for me," he explained. "They resisted you initially because you were too young. Besides, you had never worked with us before, and suddenly, you were appointed as the director. How could they easily accept it? I have been at the research institute for years; I'm a familiar face.”
His response made sense. When the plane landed, Willie was there to meet Camila at the airport. After saying goodbye to Jovanni, she got into the car.
Resting against the window, her eyes drooping, Camila asked, “What are we going to do now?"
“I'll take you home to rest," Willie suggested.
Camila looked at him, her determination apparent. "Didn't Alick want me to go to the company with you?"
"It's not just a quick visit. It could take all day. You must be exhausted."
“I'm not tired," she asserted firmly. "I won't be able to sleep anyway. We shouldn't waste time. Let's complete what we need to and then go back."
She had not yet heard any news about Isaac, and with her children's situation still uncertain, how could she rest?
"If you say so," Willie agreed, as they set off for their next task.
The car pulled up to the hotel. "Pack up your things. I've taken care of everything for you."
Camila's clothes were wrinkled from the journey. She couldn't possibly show up at the company looking Like this. Stepping out of the car, she accidentally put weight on her injured foot, wincing with pain. She remembered the medicine Eagle had given her, quickly retrieving it from her bag and applying a spray to the wound. It was chilly and had the distinct scent of herbs. After a short time, the pain subsided.
Once in her hotel room, Camila took a refreshing shower. She changed into clean, smart clothes and applied foundation to brighten her pale complexion.
Buzz Buzz— Her phone vibrated on the table. Applying lipstick, she glanced at the screen. Her hand froze. Without even opening it, the message preview sent a jolt through her. Her fingers trembled as she tapped to read the entire message.
She stood abruptly. "Willie," she called out as she rushed to open the door.
Willie was just outside, about to check if she was ready. “Are you ready to..." He started, but stopped upon seeing her. She stood in slippers, lipstick in hand, her hair still damp. Clearly, she was not ready.
Excitement constricted her throat, rendering her momentarily speechless. Her face flushed a deep red. She managed to raise her phone towards him. "Look."
