Chapter: 2303
"Feel free to make a request," he offered calmly.

Isaac sensed the man's lingering hesitation.

His eyes momentarily brightened, yet he refrained from asking Isaac to rescue his son, fearing the repercussions of a failure which could endanger his family.

Therefore, this man hesitated.

“I'm Jacob Yonge. I'd prefer you not remember everything from here," he expressed, which was best for both.

Isaac held his silence.

The road out was rugged, and walking could take days, although vehicles significantly shortened the journey.

Jacob requested his wife prepare some provisions.

Once ready, she handed him a backpack, cautioning, "Be careful."

He tenderly kissed her forehead, reassuring, "I'll be back soon."

His departure left her uneasy about staying alone.

Jacob stood tall, his deep blue eyes and grey hair framed by a moustache, suggesting his former handsomeness.

His wife, stout with very pale skin, might not have been conventionally attractive but exuded a genuine kindness that brought tranquility to those around her.

Jacob equipped Isaac with a walking stick to better assess the road conditions as he walked.

After securing his backpack, he handed one end of a short stick to Isaac, holding the other end himself.

“Wear these shoes," suggested the woman, offering Isaac a pair of clean cloth shoes, more suitable for the rugged mountain path than his current footwear.

Isaac stood still, unable to see.

Realizing his predicament, the woman said, “Let me help you," and placed the shoes before him. "The shoes are right in front of you.”

Isaac reached down and touched the shoes, feeling their texture.

His expression remained neutral, but internally, he felt grateful for the woman's thoughtfulness.
