He slipped into the shoes and gratefully acknowledged, “Thank you."

With a dismissive wave, the woman urged, "You should get moving soon. It becomes more difficult to navigate in the dark.”

Isaac's brow furrowed slightly.

To him, darkness was constant.

He saw no difference between day and night.

Perhaps sensing her oversight, the woman appeared embarrassed.

Jacob announced his departure. "I'm leaving now."

"Be careful," his wife called out after him.

He nodded in response. "I will."

The woman stood watching as her husband departed.

The path was narrow and lined with both tall and short vegetation, brushing against their legs and ankles as they walked.

Despite the overgrowth, their pants protected them from most scratches, though some thorns or sticky plants still managed to irritate their skin.

Jacob ahead remained silent, advancing without a word.

Isaac, relying on his acute sense of hearing due to his blindness, tuned in to the surrounding sounds.

He thought he could detect the distant hum of an engine.

The wind rustled through the trees, and birds called softly overhead.

"Is there a drivable road nearby?" Isaac inquired.

"Yes," Jacob confirmed.

When their supervisors arrived, they used a concealed path, usually obscured by weeds, nearly invisible to the untrained eye.

Initially, it wasn't much of a road, but repeated use had worn it into a rutted track.
