Chapter: 2312
Forrest didn't respond; instead, he pressed harder on the accelerator.
The car shot up to 18@ km/h, causing Willie to lean back instantly as he felt the acceleration.
Glancing at the speedometer, Willie remarked to Forrest, "This is the advantage of a gas-guzzler. Even at high speeds, it's steady."
"Shut up. Don't distract me while I'm driving," Forrest growled, silencing Willie immediately.
Driving at such high speeds was dangerous and required his full attention.
Luckily, the road was remote, with few cars and hills on both sides.
About two hours later, they neared their destination, but there was no driveway. It would take a long time to walk from there.
After discussing with Willie, Forrest decided to continue driving.
Their off-road vehicle was very sturdy, making it suitable for the challenging terrain.
Forrest had been driving for a long time, and Willie suggested he take a rest and offered to drive instead.
Forrest agreed and handed over the driver's seat to Willie.
As they approached their destination, everyone grew more excited.
Suddenly, they heard gunshots, but they couldn't tell if it was because of the echo in the mountains or if it was close by.
It seemed that the gunshots were not far from them!
"Fuck! Let's ditch this car," Willie blurted out, his eyes darting around at their exposed position.
The car stuck out like a sore thumb, practically begging to be noticed.
Getting caught could mean trouble for the whole group.
They scrambled out of the vehicle, blending into the tall grass, moving forward cautiously.
Not a single sound escaped them, their fear rendering them mute.
Every step was tinged with the fear of potential danger lurking nearby.
