Chapter: 2317
Isaac shielded Camila, bending down to protect both of them as Willie floored the gas pedal repeatedly.
Luckily, their assailants, lacking a vehicle, soon abandoned the pursuit.
After about half an hour, they reached smoother roads.
Willie, while driving, inquired, “Where are we heading now?"
"This area is too isolated. Head towards the crowd," Forrest directed, not taking his eyes off their immediate surroundings.
"To Stone Rowans," he added, noting it was the closest town.
Suddenly, Camila, checking Isaac for injuries, discovered his neck was bleeding and urgently asked, “Are you hurt?"
Camila was in a state of agitation, fearing Isaac might have been shot.
She promptly inspected the back of his neck.
Isaac frowned slightly as he reassured, “I'm alright."
Camila discovered his injury.
He had been wounded by a glass fragment when the bullet shattered the rear windshield.
A triangular piece of glass fragment had punctured his flesh with its sharp tip.
It looked so painful.
In her capacity as a physician, she encountered a myriad of patients and adeptly managed them with calmness!
Yet, when it concerned someone she cherished, rationality often eluded her.
Regret and anxiety gnawed at her.
Isaac soothed her in hushed tones, "It's alright. There's no need to fret."
Silently, Camila vigorously brushed away the tears pooling at the corners of her eyes.
Aware that this wasn't the opportune moment for emotional vulnerability, she steeled herself.
