Chapter: 2349
Annis would be beside herself with worry. Camila was certain of it.

She let out a long, heavy sigh, the weight of the situation pressing down on her.

"Are you planning to stay here with the kids?" Isaac shifted the conversation.

"Yes, it's more practical for me to work from here. Plus, I've quit my job. I'll be home taking care of you, but... Isaac, you can't let this happen again. It's too risky," she said softly.

“I might not understand your business plans, but you have a family now - a wife and kids. You should consider them before making any decision. Don't make too many enemies!"

Camila grappled with the weight of Isaac's peril. It was no secret that his relentless pursuit in the cutthroat world of business had earned him enemies. He had pushed Darnley too hard, whose simmering resentment brought danger to his doorstep this time.

For in the ruthless arena of power and ambition, where fortunes hung by the thinnest of threads, those with nothing left to lose were often the most dangerous adversaries. They're willing to sacrifice everything, even life itself, in the pursuit of vengeance.

As the proverb went, a beggar, stripped bare of worldly possessions, remained impervious to the threat of bankruptcy Without the plane crash, a lot would have stayed the same. But that was not the case after the crash.

Isaac nodded solemnly.

“I shall go out later," Camila declared, her voice tinged with quiet determination.

“But where will you go?" Isaac queried, his brow furrowed with apprehension.

"I must find a means to divert Annis' attention and urge her to return to Faymoor," Camila explained, her words a whispered confession laden with worry. "I fear her presence here may inadvertently expose Alick to unwarranted scrutiny. She will know something about him.”

Isaac's dissent was swift, his tone tinged with caution. “It is a risky gambit," he cautioned, his concern palpable. “If you do it too deliberately, such deception might only serve to raise suspicion. Moreover, you have yet to fully recover from your injuries. You should stay within the safety of home."

"And if she questions the state of your eyes?" Camila pressed.

"She may have gleaned tidings of the plane crash," Isaac mused, his tone tinged with resignation.

Camila shook her head, a frown creasing her brow. “If that were the case, she would not have arrived so late. It is evident she doesn't know anything about it," she countered, her logic sound.

Isaac lapsed into a contemplative silence, conceding the validity of Camila's argument.

Her words rang true. Annis and Isaac shared no blood ties. Yet to Annis, Isaac was more than a sibling by blood. Had she been aware of his plight, Annis would have rushed to see how he was doing. But in her ignorance lay a poignant truth - she remained unaware of the plane crash.

"I'm feeling much better now. The pain has subsided considerably. I'm going out to buy some painkillers," Camila divulged with a gently reassuring voice.

Isaac, longing to envelop her in a comforting embrace, grappled with the limitations imposed by his sightless state.
