“Any updates?" Annis inquired.

Camila shook her head.

Determined, Annis stated, “Where was he caught? I'm going there to find him."

She was adamant about not sitting idle!

“No," Camila firmly interjected.

The area was too dangerous; those involved were armed and operating outside the law.

If anything happened to Annis, how would they face Alick?

The worry of locating Alick was already immense.

Holding Annis's hand, Camila pleaded, “Trust us. We're doing everything we can to find him, truly!"

Annis wanted to believe her, but the inaction was unbearable.

Sensing Annis's anxiety, Camila reassured, “Wait here. I'll check for any updates."

Annis nodded reluctantly.

As Camila approached Isaac, she overheard him speaking with Forrest, and she chose to keep her distance and listen silently.

Forrest was puzzled. "How could it be Travis' leg?"

Isaac, however, wasn't surprised.

It was easy to explain.

“Darnley must have bribed the pilot to take revenge on me, suspecting I was still alive. He then targeted my family."

Forrest, eyes widening, caught on. “You mean the leg was sent by Darnley?"

Forrest immediately understood what Isaac meant.

“He lashed out at your family but didn't understand why Travis was detained. Alick had spared Travis' life, not wanting to stain his hands. More so, keeping Travis alive, in misery, was punishment enough. But Darnley likely didn't grasp the feud between you and Travis. He thought ending Travis' life would hurt you.”
