Chapter: 2384
"No," Morrison answered.
"Then why did you have to go to the police station?"
Laura walked over to the table and poured herself a glass of water.
Morrison watched her and teased, "What do you think?"
Laura was momentarily lost for words.
Holding a teacup, she gazed at Morrison and asked incredulously, "When did you pick this up? What do I think? How could I possibly know?"
“They summoned me to the police station, not for a new assignment, but to present me with a reward. I really excelled this time."
He reached for something and handed it to Laura, saying, "I want you to have this reward."
Opening the box, Laura found twenty thousand dollars in cash. To people like them, money was trivial.
The real prize was the medal beside the money.
Laura understood that Morrison had earned this medal at great personal risk.
"This honor is yours," she asserted.
Morrison glanced at the baby on the bed and gently caressed her soft cheek, saying, "What's mine is also yours."
At his words, Laura's face brightened with a smile.
“By the way, have you thought about calling Camila? Aldrin's trial is coming up. He's committed serious offenses, but he has also performed some valuable services, so his sentence will likely be reduced."
Laura's smile vanished instantly.
Sensing her change in mood, Morrison looked up and advised, "Focus on your own life. Don't get caught up in what others are doing."
Laura nodded and regained her composure. "I understand."
She then picked up the phone and announced, "I need to make a call."
"Sure," Morrison responded.
