Chapter: 2396
Joe quickly ducked behind Eagle, seeking protection.
From that moment, Joe became Eagle's constant companion, clinging to him as if his life depended on it. He seemed to have decided that Eagle was his protector.
At meal times, Joe insisted on sitting beside Eagle, much to Rowena's puzzlement.
Hadn't Joe always been somewhat wary of Eagle?
Yet now, he was closer to Eagle than to his own parents.
"Mr. Eagle, can I sleep in your room tonight?" Joe blurted out during dinner.
The table fell into a stunned silence.
Rowena couldn't help but ask, “Joe, what's gotten into you today?"
Unfazed by the stares, Joe tugged on Eagle's arm. “Can I, please?"
Eagle's eye twitched visibly. This child... He used to keep his distance, and now he was addressing him so formally as ‘Mr. Eagle‘!
However, the decision wasn't Eagle's to make. "You need to ask your mother," he responded.
Without hesitation, Joe ran off to find Camila.
"Whatever you want," she said nonchalantly.
Forrest was left speechless. "I've already moved past what you did to me. Don't be so cautious," he told Joe.
“I don't believe you," Joe replied bluntly.
Camila's patience wore thin. “Joe, you've been stirring up trouble for too long. We can't keep going like this.”
“Mom, you betrayed me," Joe accused.
Camila was taken aback. “What are you talking about?"
“Forrest said you betrayed me."
Forrest, caught in the middle, stayed silent.
