Chapter: 2444
She knew where he was going.
“I'm not angry," she insisted.
Morrison shook his head. "I know you. You're thinking about divorce if it happens again, aren't you?"
Laura couldn't answer. She was speechless.
"You seem reasonable," Morrison continued, "But there's a selfishness to it. Right now, you could scream, yell... anything. But you're not. You're considering divorce. That's what bothers me."
Laura scoffed. "You don't like it?"
"Of course no," Morrison admitted.
Laura said nothing, a tense silence hanging in the air.
“Laura," Morrison began, trying a different tactic. “Imagine if I had a woman before you, and we... had sex. Would you feel uncomfortable seeing her now?"
Laura turned her gaze back to him.
"It's natural," Morrison continued. "I know I messed up, but divorce shouldn't be the answer."
Laura remained silent.
Perhaps his point held weight. Maybe she too wouldn't appreciate seeing an ex.
While she understood his logic, she wouldn't tolerate a repeat of his actions.
The physical pain wasn't the core issue. It was the hurt in her heart that caused her to feel disappointed.
“I won't do it again," Morrison pleaded, holding her close and burying his face in her hair. “If there's an afterlife, I hope I'm the first man you meet."
Laura's heart softened.
She bit her lip. "I know," she whispered.
"No, you don't," Morrison admitted with surprising honesty. “I really like you."
His feelings had intensified after they committed to each other.
