Chapter: 2449
Alick had moved on from those days.
He had learned that Travis had been maimed by Darnley and had passed away shortly after — a turn of events that worked in his favor.
Meanwhile, Isaac had traveled abroad under the pretext of seeking medical treatment for his eyes but was actually tracking Darnley's movements.
It seemed likely that Isaac would soon confront Darnley, driven by a desire for retribution.
This was precisely why Isaac had insisted on going alone, keeping Camila in the dark and safe from the dangers that lay in wait.
Isaac had chosen not to disclose the full danger to Camila, sparing her the worry.
Nestled against Alick, Annis whispered, “Would you come with me to Faymoor?"
Taken aback, Alick inquired, "What?"
"I'm not suggesting you leave your job. Given your injury, recuperation is the only thing you need to do. In Faymoor, I could look after you better," Annis explained.
She understood Alick's commitment to Isaac and wouldn't ask him to sever that tie. She simply desired more chances to care for him throughout his recovery.
"Okay," Alick responded.
Annis beamed. “I'll go inform Camila."
Seeing this, Alick halted her movements abruptly.
Looking into his eyes, Annis questioned, "Are you having second thoughts?"
"I have no regrets! I will be by your side wherever you go," Alick declared, gently pulling her close and kissing her.
Annis smiled in agreement. "Okay."
She then stepped into the living room, where she saw Forrest savoring a bowl of soup.
"Does it taste good?" she inquired.
"Delicious," Forrest replied.
Dumbfounded by his response, Annis considered the various tonics she had mixed into the soup to aid Alick's recovery, which made it quite bitter and somewhat foul-smelling.
