Chapter: 2495
A mother's instinct was to nurture, to watch her child grow.
Now...
"You should go," she said as she turned around, voice thick.
Downstairs, Camila hadn't gone to purchase food.
She sat by the flowerbeds, her mind set on visiting Aldrin.
Last time, she couldn't.
Now, she couldn't bear not to.
Glancing at her watch, she realized over ten minutes had passed.
She waited a while longer, then a half hour, before returning to the room.
The moment Camila entered, Forrest, holding the baby, announced, “Let's get out of here."
Laura handed him the luggage. “For the baby..."
“I'll buy everything," he said, already striding out.
Camila sighed, watching him leave. Entering the room, she enveloped Laura in a silent hug. "I'll find us a hotel," she said softly. "We might stay a day or two. I need to see Aldrin."
Laura nodded, her voice barely a whisper.
Camila gathered the things Laura had packed.
"Once I book the hotel, I'll send you the address. You're welcome to visit if you want to see the baby," she said.
Silence stretched between them.
It would be agonizing to prolong this.
Besides, the future held no room for childcare in Laura's life.
"It's best to leave after seeing Aldrin," Laura advised, her voice laced with concern. "This isn't a safe place."
